Columbia Forest Products Updates Appalachian Traditions Line - New Veneer Choices Include Hickory and Cherry
Greensboro, NC - The Appalachian Traditions collection of hardwood plywood from Columbia Forest Products has long combined the popular lumber look in a convenient plywood format. In doing so, these panels deliver a surprising range of benefits to the cabinet, furniture and fixture manufacturer.
The line is now being updated with additional face choices.
Unique Visual Properties
Each Appalachian Traditional panel is uniquely made with a plank matched veneer face, eliminating the repetitive characteristics found in book-matched offerings. Whether your project is traditional or contemporary, the look of these panels is unique and full of natural character that works with any style. They are available in popular Maple, Birch, Oak and now, new Hickory and Cherry options. Architects, designers, cabinet and furniture makers who desire the classic look of solid wood will find it in Appalachian Traditions veneers.
To streamline regionalized shipping and service, Appalachian Traditions is produced in all of Columbia Forest Products' plywood mills.
And when Appalachian Traditions is manufactured on veneer core platforms made with PureBond® Formaldehyde-Free Technology, you can be assured that these panels are a smart idea for the interior environment. They will help a project qualify for LEED points, and will meet CARB Phase 2 limits for formaldehyde emissions.
Key Features and Benefits:
"Consistently Inconsistent." Plank matched veneers that replicate a true lumber look. Every sheet has a visually compatible appearance. The natural characteristics are well distributed, so any part cut from these panels will blend harmoniously with others - across a set of kitchen cabinets, wall panels or fixture faces.
Five Hardwood Species. Appalachian Traditions is available in Maple, Birch, Oak, Cherry and Hickory. Ash and Poplar are available through special order.
Lumber Plank Match. Eliminates the repetitive look of traditional book matched veneers. No more distracting "Machine Gun" effect of knots, burls or mineral that repeat across a panel's face.
Finishing. Appalachian Traditions face veneers are 100% plank matched composed with "tight side out." This will eliminate the "barber pole" effect that can accompany some book matched veneers. Eliminates shading due to tight side and loose side flitches in the same panels.
Shop Floor & Job Site Efficiency. No more presorting of panels which eases bottlenecks on the shop floor and increases yields.
Solid Wood Look. Plank matched to match solid lumber. Blends with doors and face frames. Overall appearance is pleasing with no panels looking too light or too dark.
Cost Reduction. Saves time and waste on the shop floor. Finishing is more consistent. Exchanging any damaged door in the field does not require a match to a light or dark area. A new Appalachian Traditions door can be sent with confidence.
