Columbia Forest Products Partners with Weyerhaeuser - Introduces Formaldehyde-Free Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood
Greensboro, NC - Columbia Forest Products has teamed up with Weyerhaeuser to deliver a new range of exclusive looks featuring one of the most exciting veneers on the market. Introducing Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood with PureBond® formaldehyde-free technology.
The collection begins with twelve custom-composed veneer faces arranged by color and available in rustic, clear and butcher block looks. All are offered in long plank and random plank options, and offer a new level of design flexibility with added fabrication and finishing benefits.
These veneer faces are composed "tight side out," which assures easy and consistent finishing, free from the "barber pole" effect that can occur with book matched veneer.
These premium lumber-look designs were hand-selected to provide an additional assurance of visual success. The natural graining characteristics are randomly distributed throughout the panel faces - a feature we call "consistent inconsistency." This enables components cut from one or more separate panels to harmoniously blend together when mixed in a finished project. No more shop waste due to "forced" matching of doors, for example. And an easier time down the road if replacements or additions are required.
In addition, traditional quarter sawn and plain sliced Lyptus veneers are also available, to round out the collection.
But don't forget - what you can't see matters, too. This includes the soy-based, formaldehyde-free PureBond® technology we use to make Lyptus hardwood plywood. It's a good idea for the Columbia Forest Products mills, in fabrication shops and in their customers' interiors.
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is Lyptus®?
Lyptus® is the trademarked name for the processing of a naturally occurring hybrid of two eucalyptus species. These Urograndis trees are grown on managed plantations in South America.
Lyptus veneer is available in both plain sliced and quarter sliced, offering a unique look for any project.
Lyptus plywood offers the warmth and beauty of a natural veneer surface with a variety of core options. It is a high quality choice for many high-end applications including cabinetry, furniture and store fixtures as it sands well providing an excellent surface to accept oil and water-based finishes.
Is Lyptus environmentally friendly?
Environmental concerns are always paramount and while nature has been bountiful, we must also recognize its limitations. Lyptus is 100% grown in South America on highly productive plantations, interspersed with indigenous species in the riparian zones. Lyptus Wood is produced using proprietary technology and sustainable forestry practices.
Lyptus plywood is available in a variety of core options including veneer core, MDP and particleboard. Specific cores are manufactured with PureBond® formaldehyde-free technology. Many panels meet CARB Phase 2 emissions standards.
