South American tropical hardwoods range in color from dark red to white. The wood comes in a variety of densities, which means different species will be more suited to a specific use than the generic Virola product. The name Virola is often used to encompass all non-specific South American hardwood panels. Only White Virola is truly of the Virola species.

Product Properties

The mills typically can produce products that range in thickness from 5.2mm to 25mm and in sizes 4'x6' up to 4'x10'. Many mills also produce plywood utilizing core veneers, lumber core, MDF and PBC.

The generic Virola products are usually produced using solid tropical hardwood species for both the core and the face veneers. The faces are generally produced to a thickness from 0.55mm to 0.88mm depending on desired finished panel thickness.
